    CLC: YMCA Community Learning Center

    What is the CLC?

    Contact: Jeremy Smith

The YMCA Community Learning Center is a grant funded after school program for students at and West Seattle Elementary Schools. Funded by the City of Seattle, the Seattle School District, and OSPI we offer academic and enrichment opportunities to students at no cost to the families Monday through Friday after school. Students in second through fifth grade who have not passed the Smarter Balanced are eligible for the opportunity to participate in this program.

    Program Schedule

The CLC program begins directly after school with check in and a snack in the lunchroom. Students are given an outdoor activity time, followed by homework help in small groups. During homework groups, students are provided with support by CLC staff members in completing their assigned homework. Homework groups are organized by grade level, so that students are working on similar skills and activities.

Students are also given daily opportunities to participate in enrichments. Enrichments are group activities led by CLC staff members and selected based on student interest. Enrichments may include art, music, games, drama, dance, cooking, sports or other activities. Enrichments are designed to engage and empower students by giving them new skills and experiences.
