Message from Ms. Conyers and Ms. Washington

    Principal McCowan-Conyers

Hello families! My name is Ms. Conyers and I am the proud Principal of West Seattle Elementary.

West Seattle Elementary is a K-5 community school located in the High Point housing area. We celebrate our vibrant, diverse population in a nurturing and positive school environment. Our focus this year is to work with family, community and educational partnerships to meet or exceed the needs of our students and families.

West Seattle’s academic programs are supported by Title I and Levy funds. We are in the midst of implementing a new Reading and Writing program in K-5th grades called CCC, which focuses on Collaborative Classroom Literacy. This new reading and writing program will be implemented in all classrooms throughout the District. Please join us for the family teas (See times on the calendar on the back and this side) to discuss how you can support this implementation process at home.

West Seattle Elementary also focuses on Arts education. The Arts program includes music (as a avenue of supporting reading and math instruction), and visual arts. West Seattle students also receive Library Arts, Chess, and Physical Education instruction.

We are gearing up for an exciting array of after school enrichment programs to include (but are not limited to): Husky Clubs, Husky Pups, Circus Arts, Chess, and a Disney musical.

Lastly, I would like to implore all parents to adjust their schedules and to be here to team up with your child’s teacher for parent-teacher conferences. This year’s individual conference meetings will be scheduled for the week of November 19th—21st. We respect and  understand that you are your child’s first teacher and know them best.  We want and need your support in addressing the needs of the whole child; this includes your child’s academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.

Thank you for all you do in supporting WSE teachers and staff.

    Whatever It Takes For Kids!
