    Facts about the library

Did you know these facts about the West Seattle Elementary school library?

    • The library is staffed with a welcoming, full-time librarian.
    • Each class visits the library on a weekly basis to learn library skills, enjoy read-alouds and check out materials.
    • The library has a collection of over 10,000 books, carefully selected for student interest and instructional need.

What's going on in the library?

Intermediate students have cast their votes for the Towner Award, a Washington State children's choice award for non-fiction. Our winner was Neighborhood Sharks with 81 votes. Guess what? Neighborhood Sharks also won the overall competition after all libraries submitted their votes!

Students have also worked hard on reading for Accelerated Reader points.  Several students have passed the 100 point mark.   At the end of the year, we will have a Principal's Party for students who reach their grade goal.

    2nd grade: 20 points
    3rd grade: 30 points
    4th grade: 40 points
    5th grade: 50 points
